Press Release from Parasole Restaurant Holdings 3/6/09:
Parasole’s new “TINY TREATS” put dessert back on the table for weekday lunch guests
Minneapolis, March 6, 2009. Dessert has always been an indulgence, but for many weekday lunch guests, it’s also a sin.
“We hear it a lot,” says Parasole founder Phil Roberts, “‘I don’t have the time...It will make me sleepy...I shouldn’t spend the money.’ So we decided to offer absolution.”
Introducing $2.50 lunchtime Tiny Treats, served weekdays at Salut, Figlio, Muffuletta and the Good Earth.
“Here’s what happens: We clear your lunch plates and immediately present you with at least two choices of two- or three-bite mini-desserts,” explains Roberts. “They’re right in front of you. Just say yes and within ten seconds you’re satisfying your sweet tooth without triggering your guilt. And within five minutes you can be out the door.”
Tiny Treats debuted at Salut Bar Americain in Edina, and the response was so immediate and enthusiastic, said Roberts, that the offering will soon be introduced to weekday lunch guests at Salut St. Paul, Good Earth, Muffuletta and Figlio.
“They’re right for the times,” he says. “At $2.50 they won’t dent your wallet. They’re small enough to not make you sleepy. And they won’t keep you away from the office.”
Tiny Treat selections will vary seasonally, and always involve at least one chocolaty and one fruity option. Recent offerings have included a tiny Tiramisu, Chocolate Mocha Pot au Crème, Fresh Raspberries and Sponge Cake with Pastry Crème, Turtle Cake, and White Chocolate Mousse. “Tiny Treats are impossible to resist,” concludes Roberts. “We all have reasons not to get dessert, but all of us want it. Now you can have your cake and, well, eat it too.”
